Take Action Now

The Most Important Paragraph You May Ever Write

On my desk, in clear view, is the following statement:

“Your level of success and achievement in any area of life is in direct proportion to your ability and willingness to direct your thoughts into effective planning and organized action towards a specific goal combined with a strong reason why you are doing it in the first place.”

When is the last time you wrote a clear “focus” or “mission” statement for your business? The number one reason for business inefficiency, waste, and failure is lack of clear focus. Once, while hiking in the wilderness guided only by my compass, I made an error of only a couple degrees in the initial setting. That small error caused me to miss my destination by over a mile! Your business mission statement is like setting the coordinates for your journey. How you word it may mean the difference between reaching your goal, and missing your goal.

A good mission statement names your identity, purpose, and focus. You will use it over and over again to remind yourself of your focus destination and the coordinates you are following in order to get there. You will use it to help others (clients, employees, associates, referral sources, lenders…) know your focus destination so that they can aim their energy and resources toward you in the most effective way.

Your mission statement says

  • Who you are.
  • Who you serve.
  • What service you provide. Why?

The best mission statements are brief—no more than five or six sentences. If you can boil it down to one sentence, so much the better. Put it on the back of your business card. Boil it down further, and you have a business tag line.

Your mission statement is the compass for your journey. Like a compass, one quick glance should tell you if you are on or off course.

I help businesses define their focus into a clear, concise, practical mission statement. This service includes

A 45-minute interview with your key leadership

A review of any past mission statements

An analysis of the mission statements of others in your industry, including your primary competitors

The crafting of your own powerful focused mission statement.

You receive the huge benefit of a clear focused mission statement. This will help you and others focus energy toward your business in efficient directed thought, planning, and organized action.

Try email marketing. It's fast, easy and inexpensive so you can communicate with your market audience on a regular basis and stay "top of mind" to them. I use iContact. It has all the features you need:

  • Contact management, ability to create and format emails, blogs and RSS feeds, autoresponders for series, a sign-up form for your Web site, excellent training in how to use the tool and more.

Please take a look at this powerful tool. It is central to a successful email marketing program. Don't try to patch your email marketing together with Outlook or some other less powerful program. It simply won't work.
