Three Reasons You’ll Never Again Be Speechless

I used to think that creativity was something that happened by chance—but everything changed forever when I discovered that I could make creativity happen. You can do it too. Think about it: You’re trying to figure out what to say, and the ideas are coming with all the speed of a slowly dripping water faucet. Is that familiar? Now imagine: How would your life be different if you discovered the secret of turning that water faucet into a fire hose? When I stopped stumbling over the question of what to say, and, instead, thought about how I would make my point, the floodgates opened forever. All it takes is a great formula for those first words—your headline.

If, before you write your first word, you decide how you’re going to present your case, the words will begin to flow. All that power is always there. Sometimes it just needs a channel to begin flowing.

Before you speak, decide how you will make your case. Here are three great headline formats:

  1. Use a Testimonial-type of Headline. Whatever your point, try beginning with the intention to present it as a testimonial. It works like a wonder. Here are some testimonial headlines:

Headlines written in the form of a testimonial are very effective, as they instantly begin building trust in the listener, and confidence in the speaker.

  2. Use a Short Headline to Directly Call Out to Your Audience. Names are powerful, and when you give a name to your listener, and when that name accurately defines why they should listen, you can get instant audience attention. Call your audience out:
    • Travelers—Look Before You Book!
  3. Give Reasons and Use Specific Numbers. It’s like announcing that you’re going to make a case and you’re going to prove it. You’re audience will listen out of curiosity, if for no other reason. And you will feel empowered—like you are on a mission to make a focused point and create meaningful change:

In your marketing communications, the result you want from your audience is the rocket, your message is the fuel and your headline is the spark that ignites the fuel and puts the whole thing in motion.

Try email marketing. It's fast, easy and inexpensive so you can communicate with your market audience on a regular basis and stay "top of mind" to them. I use iContact. It has all the features you need:

  • Contact management, ability to create and format emails, blogs and RSS feeds, autoresponders for series, a sign-up form for your Web site, excellent training in how to use the tool and more.

Please take a look at this powerful tool. It is central to a successful email marketing program. Don't try to patch your email marketing together with Outlook or some other less powerful program. It simply won't work.
