Getting Rid of the Things That Waste Your Time

Mark Boeck

Senior Mortgage Consultant, Mortgage Express

Here is a quick exercise to help you focus on the activities that are most productive for your business.

On one hand there are many things you do well, many things you enjoy doing, tasks you hate doing—some of which you feel obligated to do. On the other hand, there are activities that increase your income and create profit for your business.

Use the following chart to list 3-5 activities in each area.

List three things that you do in your job very well or like to do.

Now, take a closer look at the final list—the 5 things that increase your income. When you spend 90% of your time doing activities on this list, you maximize your productivity, the growth of your business and your success.

Ask yourself: “How can I either drop the activities on the first three lists, or re-assign them to someone else (i.e. a specialist or assistant)?
