How to Use the Google Calendar Sync Tool

AJ Weinzettel

Web Designer

The evolution of how we manage our time has changed dramatically over the last 20 years:

  • At first we had the great day planner. It came with varying sizes to fit our pocket, or a full 8.5 x 11 notebook size that we carried around.
  • The next big thing in this arena was a Palm Pilot back in 1996. This forever changed the way we managed our time. We were now able to carry this huge day planner in an electronic format that fit onto our back pocket. WOW!

Over the past 11 years the kind of planner we use has taken on millions of different variations. Today I want to share with you a variant that will help us as small business owners.

As many of you know Google is my friend and I really enjoy using Google’s online calendar. It is free and the way it works is elegant yet simple and easy to use. All of my appointments are up on the Google calendar and I can access this calendar on any computer in the world that has an Internet connection. That is defiantly better than carrying around a day planner or a palm pilot in my back pocket.

It isn’t enough though. There are many times I am without an Internet connection and I need access to my calendar. It is imperative I have access to this data at all times!!

This began my quest for the perfect solution. I already have a calendar built into my phone and I have to carry my phone with me at all times no matter. So, why can’t I use the calendar on my phone and use Google Calendar at the same time?

After days and days searching the Internet for an answer I found the solution and the solution is called GCalSync. GCalSync is an application you install onto your phone. After setting up a couple options it will go out to your Google Calendar and sync up the appointments on your calendar with the appointments on your phone. No wires, no difficult software to configure. It is easy, fun and best of all it is free!

Using GCalSync allows us as small business owners to get access to our calendar instantly without having to carry additional devices or a huge day planner.

Purpose

To help you manage your time on the fly.

Benefits

  • Easier, more time-efficient organization of your schedule
  • Get access to your calendar instantly without having to carry additional devices or a huge day planner
  • Update your calendar from multiple places
  • Update calendar and phone simultaneously and instantly
